Corvette Will Become an Independent Brand

Image
For seventy years, the Corvette has been the pinnacle of the Chevrolet lineup . The legendary sports car, now in its eighth generation, is an undisputed American icon, as well as one of the world’s best performance-for-price supercars. However, General Motors could be engineering a divorce between Chevrolet and Corvette. Following the example of firms such as  Citroën and DS ,  SEAT and CUPRA , or  Volvo and Polestar , the North American giant would be planning to turn Corvette into a full-fledged brand completely independent of Chevrolet, which would allow it to compete for one on one against heavyweights like Lotus. , Maserati and Porsche. Everything indicates that Corvette will be, along with Cadillac and Hummer, one of the brands that will star in the return of General Motors to Europe in the middle of the decade.  The company will bet on a direct and online sales model , focusing on 100% electric premium proposals due to their high profitability (Cadillac Lyriq and Celestiq , GM

Audi will produce more electric e-Tron GT

Image
The transformation of the automobile industry occurs through multiple expressions. The last one that we know of starring Audi, which is going to sacrifice part of the production of its flagship, the Audi A8, in favor of the electric Audi e-Tron GT. As Audi has confirmed to the German press, the company is planning a production cut of the Audi A8, its largest and most luxurious model, which is manufactured at the Neckarsulm plant. The company has not specified how many annual units it will cut production, although the German press speaks of around 1,000 vehicles. The production adjustment of the Audi A8 coincides with an  increase in the production of the electric Audi e-Tron GT . According to the director of the plant, Fred Schulze, the increase in the second will compensate for the cut in the first, so that jobs in the factory will not be affected. Another part of the affected employees will be assigned to the production of the A6 in Neckarsulm. According to the information we curr

Ferrari working on hybrid conversion of LaFerrari

Image
Ferrari has started the development of LaFerrari’s hybrid replacement. A few hours ago a leak was published specifying a large number of details that the new hypercar of the Italian firm that will arrive in 2024 will have. The Ferrari LaFerrari comes from a long line of hypercars that goes back almost to the very beginning of the brand itself; with iconic models such as the Ferrari F40 or the Ferrari Enzo. Now a new historical event could be experienced and it is  the succession of the LaFerrari as the latest iconic jewel of the Italian brand . The last member of the lineage was the first to inaugurate a particular hybrid mechanical system and, of course, the successor will also do the same. It will also  have a very limited number of units and state-of-the-art technology .  Ferrari’s new plans have come to light via a post on the  Auto Pareri  forum. Of course, being a leak, we must give him the benefit of the doubt, although his contribution of such specific data as how many vehicl

The next Toyota GR86 will be a hybrid car

Image
Toyota has started the development of the third generation of the GR86. The sports model, for the first time, will incorporate electrified mechanics together with components already released in other models. The Toyota GR86 (and previously the GT86) has been able to conquer the hearts of most purists and is passionate about driving through “classic” design mechanics. However, after the success of this second generation,  the Japanese firm is already developing what will be the generational substitute for the Japanese “popular sports car” . This will come with notable changes, including, for the first time, an electrified mechanic.  The third generation of the Toyota GR86 will arrive in 2025 . Many have the voices that spoke that this could be replaced by a new interpretation of the legendary Toyota MR2 and that it would bring 100% electric mechanics. Now, these rumors begin to subside and present a more natural evolution of GR86 concerning the current generation of sports. This info

Bugatti completes 80% of Chiron production

Image
At the same time that Bugatti engineers are already working on the replacement for the hypercar, the production of the Bugatti Chiron continues its course. The French firm, which has all the products sold, has already completed 80 percent, with an exceptional unit of the exclusive Bugatti Chiron Super Sport. The exclusive  Bugatti Chiron  was presented in 2016. Then, the French brand announced the limited production of  500 units , which practically flew among the wealthiest customers in the world, thanks to the brutal change it underwent aesthetically compared to the Veyron. The most luxurious French brand of the Volkswagen group has already completed  80 percent of the  model’s production. The 400th unit has just left the production, and there are still a hundred more to reach their new owners, who cannot be in a hurry because the manufacturer needs  two months to manufacture  it by hand. And up to a year -or two years- if the client is so exquisite and requires unique customizatio

Volkswagen announces a cheap electric car for under 25,000 euros

Image
Volkswagen has confirmed the launch of a cheap electric car whose starting price will be below the barrier of 25,000 euros. A model called to play a leading role and revolutionize the emerging market of electric mobility in Europe. The process of switching to the electric car that has been launched in Europe cannot exclude lower and middle-class families. The era of fully electric mobility must be affordable or, on the contrary, we will be leaving hundreds of millions of citizens of the Old Continent behind.  Volkswagen , one of the giants of the European automotive industry, is determined to become a benchmark in the emerging market for cheap electric cars. It is well known that  Volkswagen is working flat out on the development of a new range of small electric cars . Some models will stand out, among other things, for their sale price. However, in recent times there have been a lot of controversies precisely with the price that these future models will have. Some rumors that the to

Toyota was wrong in its opinion on the electric car

Image
Toyota is at a turning point in its century-old history. The jump to electric mobility is unstoppable, but a miscalculation in the estimates is shaking the foundations of a billion-dollar plan.  Toyota is rethinking its electric strategy for the coming years . Several projects have been paralyzed until a concrete decision is made. The schedule of this story keeps changing. At the end of last year, Aiko Toyoda, the company’s CEO, announced in style the company’s new and long-awaited electrical strategy. Under pressure from many sources, Toyota had to “improvise” an electrification program that would culminate in more than 30 models launched before the end of the decade and the full electric conversion of the Lexus brand by 2035.  A strategy in which Toyota hoped to invest more than 35,000 million dollars in less than 10 years . So far so good. Fast-forward to a few weeks ago, when Toyoda reaffirmed his electric strategy again. Nothing and no one would move them from there, but it seem

NIO aims to be more profitable than Tesla

Image
The manufacturer NIO is presented as one of the most serious Chinese automotive alternatives in the European market in the coming years. Its competitively priced models are positioned as tough opponents for brands historically based in the Old Continent. In recent statements, the founder of the company believes that  profitability in Europe is guaranteed and he hopes to succeed where his direct rivals have encountered a greater number of problems .  The first NIO model to land in Europe will be the ET7 electric sedan , which is expected to begin its first deliveries in the coming days. Later the  ET5  will arrive, a slightly smaller sedan, and later the EL7 will do the same, a large electric SUV, which is expected by the beginning of 2023. That is why, with three electric models in circulation,  NIO aspires to quickly become an alternative for European drivers and users . It will also have its particular method to exchange fully charged batteries. NIO has one of the greatest innovati

Volvo EX90 New details of the electric SUV

Image
The trickle of new details that will arrive with the electric Volvo EX90 continues, a model called to replace the current Volvo XC90. The Swedish company they have already published numerous appendices of the model, such as the good qualities of its cabin upholstered with sustainable materials, as well as the high technological dose of safety that it will have. Now, Volvo has once again shown a new preview of its imminent electric SUV, this time it is  about the configuration of the dashboard and the capabilities of its multimedia system .  The new sample is produced just a few days before  its official presentation, which is scheduled for next November 9 . However, the brand is expected to re-launch some new detail before the indicated date of its release. Volvo the EX90 will start from a premise of minimalism in all its sections. The technology of this electric car will be simplified to “  avoid information overload  ”. To do this, the company’s engineers have placed great interest

The next Jeep Compass and Renegade will be electric

Image
By 2030, Jeep wants 50% of the cars it sells in the United States to be electric,  reaching 100% in Europe . The company recently introduced its first such model, the Avenger, a small SUV based on the Stellantis group’s eCMP platform that offers a range of about 400 km WLTP. It is confirmed that the next electric launches of the American company will be the  Recon  and the  Wagoneer  S. The first of them will be an SUV with an aesthetic inspired by that of the Wrangler, from which it will take solutions such as the removable roof and doors, while the second will be a luxury SUV with up to 644 km EPA. Both will arrive in Europe in 2024. Everything indicates that the next Jeep to be electrified will be the Renegade and Compass , its two most successful models in Europe.  Both will grow in size to make room for the Avenger ; exceeding 4.30 and 4.50 meters long respectively. Unlike its smaller brother, which has been conceived for the Asian and especially European markets, both the Reneg

Honda gives us a glimpse of its new Accord

Image
The  Honda Accord  has been present on our market for already 10 generations. Despite the waning popularity of midsize sedans over the past few years, Honda has decided not to abandon this segment by giving us a preview of the 11th generation. Even if the images revealed by Honda do not show the vehicle in its entirety, we can still distinguish that the exterior lines will take over the design present on new Honda products, such as the Civic and the CR-V. On the mechanical side, very few details were leaked in the release other than that the hybrid powertrain would be upgraded to be more responsive and fun. In terms of the cabin, it will be more modern than in the past by integrating a Google system for the first time at Honda. This integration should allow the system a better fluidity than in the past, according to the manufacturer. Combined with this infotainment system, the Accord will integrate the largest touchscreen ever designed by Honda at 12.3 inches. For the rest, we can ex

Manufacturers to double investment in electric cars

Image
Car companies have seen high profitability in electric cars and higher-than-expected demand. That is why the main brands have increased their bets in this regard and  the total expenditure would be around 1.2 billion dollars until 2030  for the development and production of electric vehicles. Said investment also includes its components, such as batteries or the acquisition of fundamental raw materials.  The last year 2021,  Reuters  carried out the first study in this regard. In this, they made it clear that the investment estimates by the brands and companies related to automobiles would be around 600 billion dollars. This study has recently been revised to update the data. However, the new figure suggests that they fell short of the estimate since  the total investment would have doubled in just one year .  Following the own forecasts of the main car manufacturers in the world, the estimate is that  by the year 2030 around 54 million battery electric vehicles will be manufactured

Toyota to increase production of bZ4X in 2025

Image
Something is changing at Toyota . According to a recent report, the Japanese firm would be studying profoundly modifying its electrification strategy to face rivals such as Tesla, because due to its slow commitment to battery-powered electric cars, it is now somewhat behind. Among other things, Toyota would be considering replacing the e-TNGA electric platform ahead of time with a new architecture. This move would allow the company to implement  a new, more efficient manufacturing system  (the e-TNGA was designed to share a production line with thermal models) and simplify numerous components, which would result in a significant cost reduction. This new direction would not only affect the company’s future launches, but also its electric cars already on sale. According to internal sources,  Toyota would be considering increasing the production of the bZ4X from 2025 , since the initial planned capacity (50,000 units per year) is insufficient. Toyota currently assembles just over 1,000

Ford showed off a preview of the Puma EV

Image
Yesterday,  Ford officially confirmed the cessation of production of the Fiesta , one of the most important models of its European offer during the last five decades. The small utility will stop being manufactured next summer, as the plant in Cologne (Germany) where it is assembled will go on to produce two separate electric  crossovers  based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform. The causes behind this resounding decision, which  will mean the disappearance of one of the most beloved cars by the general public after 47 years of sale , can be found in the failure of the eighth-generation Fiesta. This is due in part to the enormous success of its older brother, the Puma SUV, which has completely overshadowed the  hatchback . And it is that this B-segment SUV has been climbing positions to become  the company’s best-selling vehicle on European soil : with 132,455 units registered last year, it was not only able to outperform the Fiesta, but also other heavyweights such as the Focus (which will

First images of the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore

Image
Maserati has revealed a series of images of the prototypes of the new GranCabrio , the convertible version of the recently presented GranTurismo. Although camouflaged, it can be seen that it will maintain the main lines of its closed brother, whose beautiful design has been highly applauded by the public. Its silhouette will be typical of a vehicle of its type (long hood, passenger compartment displaced on the rear axle, shortened rear…). Both the optical groups in vertical format and the fine horizontal pilots and the oval radiator grille will be common to other brand models. Inside it will mount two screens, a central 12.3-inch screen, and an additional 8.8-inch screen.  The digital instrumentation will be 12.2 inches  and will be complemented by a projected  Head-up Display. The new model will arrive in 2023 and, in  Massimo Capaldi  (Maserati’s head of global products), it will be  “something special” . As with the GranTurismo, the GranCabrio will have an electric version called

Ford will stop production of the Fiesta in 2023

Image
The Ford Fiesta could stop being produced in 2023 . The popular utility vehicle, launched on the market in 1976, has been one of the most successful cars on the European market for decades; however, its eighth generation has been completely overshadowed by the success of the Puma SUV. In the first half of 2022, its sales have fallen by 44%, ranking tenth in its category (segment B). According to a recent report,  the production of the Fiesta in Cologne (Germany) will be interrupted in the short term  to make way for two electric  crossovers  based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB modular platform. One of them will derive from the Volkswagen ID.4 and will be intended to indirectly replace the Focus, which will cease to be manufactured in Saarlouis (Germany) in 2025. The second will be a sports  crossover  related to the Volkswagen ID.5. Conceived as a kind of scale version of the Mustang Mach-E , it could return to the mythical name Capri.  These models will launch in 2023 and 2024 resp

KIA Stinger will be replaced by an electric car

Image
The KIA Stinger,  launched on the market in 2017 , has not exactly been a sales success. This sports sedan was meant to be measured against premium models from the likes of the Audi A5 Sportback and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, which is why it boasts premium trim and a refined rear-wheel drive platform. The truth is that trying to sell a vehicle with these characteristics under a generalist brand is usually somewhat complicated for image reasons. However, with the new EV6, KIA has realized that buyers looking for an electric car  are more open to purchasing an expensive vehicle regardless of the logo on its front , prioritizing aspects such as technical specifications. This  would have encouraged KIA to replace the Stinger with an electric sedan , which will be launched in 2025. At the moment it is not clear if it will continue to use the E-GMP platform already seen in the EV6, or if it will be one instead. one of the company’s first models to use the new eM architecture, more flexible t

Lotus Eletre Offers Up To 373 Miles Of Range

Image
The Lotus Eletre is a key model for the British brand , which was acquired by Geely in 2017. Historically known for manufacturing sports cars that prioritized lightness above all, now the company wants to diversify its offer and fully electrify itself to be able to compete against rivals from the likes of Maserati or Porsche. Although the Eletre is not Lotus’s first electric car, an honor that belongs to the Evija hypercar, it does mark  a turning point in the company’s history , paving the way for the arrival of other models such as the Type 133 sedan (2023). ) or the medium SUV Type 134 (2025), which will also be 100% electric. Although the Lotus Eletre was officially presented in March, all the details of its range, its final technical specifications, and even its prices  have now been revealed.  The vehicle will be available in three versions: Eletre, Eletre S, and Eletre R. Although all of them will have a “dual motor” configuration (one motor on each axle) and all-wheel drive i

2023 Ford Escape revealed with ST-Line version

Image
Ford  has just lifted the lid on the  2023 Escape , and as we reported last month, it’s a good update that hits both styling, technology, and fuel offerings. versions of the popular compact SUV. It is especially the front and rear parts that make the 2023 Ford Escape stand out from its predecessor. Displaying a square and muscular look, this Escape takes on the air of Edge to better match the manufacturer’s other SUVs. This design refresh incorporates new body colors and new rims. It’s especially in terms of the passenger compartment that we highlight the most significant changes, in particular by the integration of the SYNC 4 multimedia interface with a 13.2-inch display. SYNC 4 now offers the ability to update remotely and syncs better with the FordPass mobile app. Ford has also removed the MyKey technology and now integrates it directly into the application. The versions equipped with this system (Active, ST-Line, and PHEV) will receive Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless con

Toyota had to completely change its strategy with Tesla’s superiority

Image
According to a report published by Reuters, Toyota is considering a complete  reboot  of its electrification strategy  to improve its competitiveness . The Japanese firm, which has been one of the last to bet on the battery-powered electric car, will thus seek to stand up to rivals such as Tesla. An internal working group has been tasked with improving the e-TNGA platform or  creating a completely new one . In addition, the development of some of the thirty electric models that the Toyota company planned to launch between now and 2030, including the electric Crown and the Compact Cruiser EV off-roader, has been suspended. Although this change in plans could  delay the launch of some models , it will address the criticism of some investors, concerned about the slowness of Toyota. And is that the sales of electric cars are exceeding the projections made previously by the firm, which places it in a compromised situation. The development of a new platform to replace the e-TNGA would ai

How many solar panels are needed to charge a car at home?

Image
The champion of sustainability for electric vehicles is possible thanks to  solar energy.  The dream archetype is to get around with a car that does not generate local emissions directly and whose energy has been obtained from a renewable source. Everything goes through domestic self-consumption, that is,  using self-consumption solar panels to charge the car battery . Self-consumption photovoltaic installations are connected to the electricity grid.  It can be with surplus and without compensation (a system that is not effective for residential installations) or with surplus and compensation. With the latter, the home can consume energy from the network or its panels, “injecting” the surplus into the electricity network. In a connected installation , dynamic power control can be placed,  which allows for regulating the power transformed by the solar panels and the energy from the contracted network while our car is charging. With this system, we could charge the vehicle using only

Toyota bZ3 Electric sedan with a range of 600 km

Image
After numerous leaks, Toyota has finally presented its new electric model, the bZ3. This compact sedan (segment C) equivalent to the Corolla  will be produced by the joint venture between the Japanese firm and FAW  for the Chinese market. At the moment there is no information regarding his possible arrival in Europe. The Toyota bZ3 measures 4,725 millimeters long, 1,835 millimeters wide, and 1,475 millimeters high, with a wheelbase of 2,880 millimeters. Its elaborate aerodynamics allows it to advertise  a coefficient of just 0.218 , a truly outstanding figure that will guarantee high efficiency, thereby reducing its consumption and improving its range. The vehicle sits on  the e-TNGA modular platform , the same one found in the bZ4X. Its BYD-origin batteries, of unknown capacity, are of the LFP (lithium iron phosphate) type, an affordable chemical that offers long useful life and high safety rates. Toyota claims that after ten years, the pack will retain 90% of its capacity. The ran
