MG confirms its cheapest hybrid car MG3 here are the first details

Image
Over the last few months he has been seen in  spy photos  and we already knew that his arrival was imminent. But there was still doubt whether it would be sold in Europe. And now  MG has made it official  at the presentation of the MG Cyberster for French media, thus confirming  that it will be sold here . They have shown it to the press still in camouflage, although showing key parts of its design. And we can advance certain  information  that has been arriving over the last few months. Not only will it be  your cheapest hybrid car , but it also aims to be  the cheapest hybrid on the market  compared to options like the Toyota Yaris Hybrid and the Renault Clio E-Tech. The  MG 3 will not be electric , which would make it too expensive. But MG is determined to  bet on the complete electrification  of its range, so this engine will arrive with  hybrid mechanics . The question that remains open is whether it will arrive with a 48 V  mild hybrid  engine, or if it will do so with a  plug-i

The much-anticipated SUV is finally here and it’s way better than MG

The  Dacia Duster  is the  ‘flagship’  of the Romanian brand and will remain so until the Dacia Bigster arrives in 2025. But it had fallen behind new options such as the MG ZS. This third generation, the  Dacia Duster 2025 , will seek to revalidate the title of the best-selling SUV in Europe –  from 2022 –  in a  larger format , with a more mature image,  much more complete in equipment , and also proposing an  authentic mechanical revolution  with compared to what it offered before. Not only does it catch up with the MG ZS, but it is now clearly a superior product. The new  Dacia Duster 2024  is based on the  CMF-B platform  that the Sandero and Jogger had already adopted,  it grows slightly  in its dimensions and completely changes its aesthetics to have a  much more robust appearance . The front is committed to absolute horizontality with  slit LED optics  that integrate the daytime signature in the shape of an overturned “Y” and fit into a  single module next to the grill , with s

Toyota has renewed its cheapest SUV but its rival is better and cheaper

Image
When talking about  hybrid cars , the first brand that comes to mind is  Toyota . They have always carried the banner of this technology, but today  they are no longer the only ones  and, in some cases,  they are not the best either . In fact, in the specific case of  its cheapest SUV , which is the Toyota Yaris Cross, there is a  better alternative  both in terms of price and performance. The Japanese brand has just presented the new Toyota Yaris Cross 2024, but despite this,  this Renault model is still better. With the new Toyota Yaris Cross 2024, although the model with 116 HP  will continue to be sold, the brand has finally reacted and has introduced a new version into the range that has  132 HP  of maximum power. It’s about time because the model’s direct rivals  offer much more  than what this reduced SUV with  hybrid engines  offers. Of course, prepare your pocket because the least powerful version of the model, and before the restyling, already costs  24,925 euros at least.

This hybrid SUV from MG is €17,000 cheaper than its gasoline rivals

Image
MG ‘s strategy is transparent and is based on launching  models that are much cheaper  than those of its rivals, but that maintain  good quality , stand out for having  a lot of equipment , and can also boast of being sold with a  7-year warranty . They are attacking several segments and in all of them, they are the cheapest option. But the case of this SUV, which is not even its best-selling model, is the most striking:  it costs 17,000 euros less  than its strongest rival and offers no less than  258 HP  of maximum power and  a Zero label  from the DGT. The model we are talking about is the  new MG EHS 2024 . And I say  ‘new’  because right now  it has just been updated , unlike the alternatives on the market which are models like the  Toyota RAV4 , or of course the  KIA Sportage  and also the Nissan Qashqai. The only one that has  ‘caught up’  is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson, which is also a much more expensive model than this  MG EHS . And, by the way, despite being a  ‘low cost’  opti

MG4 is better than the VW ID.3 and cheaper

Image
The   MG4  is the new electric car from   ‘Morris Garage’ , a   direct rival to the Volkswagen ID.3 , the Cupra Born, or the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric. And one of its strongest points is that it is  much cheaper  than its competitors,   between 6,000 euros and 9,000 euros  depending on the version. But we still had to know other things just as important and more. And we already know them: the media are beginning to test it and claim that it  is a better car  in different sections, as well as being a   cheaper option. The   MG4   will arrive in Europe this year and will do so in two different configurations: one with a   135 kW (170 hp) and 51 kWh  electric motor that reaches up to   350 km  of range, and the other with a   150 kW motor (204 CV), 64 kWh and 450 km  of range. In addition, we already know that the brand is preparing to launch, although somewhat later, other configurations that will even offer us all-wheel  drive  thanks to the use of two electric motors instead of o

Electric cars will be cheaper than combustion cars

Image
One of the main barriers to the mass adoption of the  electric car  is its high purchase price compared to mature cars with a combustion engine. A situation that has a lot to do with the cost of batteries, which according to the latest Bloomberg report already has a date to achieve a price that allows it to match that of diesel and gasoline. The report mentions the production cost of the vehicle taking into account its different components. Then the sale price will depend on many factors that can make it more or less competitive. One of the most interesting conclusions is that until now it was thought that the key figure to achieve this parity was  100 dollars per kWh . A figure that the study places rather at  80 dollars per kWh in the United States and Europe , which will have to be 60 dollars in less developed markets where the average sale price is usually lower. Bloomberg’s outlook indicates that battery prices will reach  $80/kWh in 2026  and $60/kWh in 2029, down from the $13

Best-selling SUV is the same price as the Tesla Model Y and has more range

Image
If the Tesla Model Y succeeds the way it does, it is for no other reason than the relationship between its  price  and factors as important as its size, its SUV-type body, and  range . No other electric SUV has been able to match what Tesla proposes with its best-selling electric car, but now a new model has arrived that will make things difficult for the American model and, contrary to what happens with all the models that arrive lately on the market, it is not Chinese. It is the Peugeot 3008 in its electric version e-3008 , a model that in its previous generation has embodied the role of Peugeot’s most successful car in recent years, something that the brand has taken advantage of to project the shadow of this success on the next generation and thus promote it commercially. In reality, the new e-3008 is located one segment below the Tesla Model Y, since we are dealing with a  C-SUV  and D-SUV, respectively, but the Frenchman has been the only model capable of surpassing the most co

A Chinese company surpasses Toyota in solid-state batteries

Image
Toyota  aims to be one of the first companies to launch its  solid-state battery  installed in an electric car on the global market. We know that they have been registering patents for this technology for years, and their latest promise is that they will release batteries with solid electrolytes by 2027. With these latest statements made by the Japanese brand, it seemed that they would be the first  to have a technology that aims to be a  true revolution  for electric vehicles. However,  a Chinese brand has overtaken them on the right  and will have these batteries before Toyota. According to Toyota’s promises, its solid-state batteries will give rise to  electric cars with 1,200 km of range and a charging system that allows  energy to be recovered in 10 minutes  of charging. These are promising figures and, of course, they point to a revolution in the benefits that an electric car can offer. However, today we learned that only 10,000 cars will have this battery, which, by the way,

This will be Toyota’s first electric car with a solid-state battery

Image
Although they seemed more inclined towards hydrogen vehicles,  Toyota has changed its mind  and now seems fully focused on the development of electric cars. What many people do not know is that the Japanese brand has been filing patents for years about its  solid-state battery technology  and its development  is more advanced  than its competitors. They recently revealed what their plans are for the coming years, and they have already announced that they are preparing  electric vehicles with 1,200 km of range thanks to these new batteries with solid electrolytes. In addition,  they will load in 10 minutes  according to the data they have advanced. Of course, the latest information, as expected, reveals that the Japanese brand  will not use this technology in all  its electric cars. At least at the start of the deployment of its solid-state batteries,  production will be limited , and Toyota plans to offer a solid-state battery  in just 10,000 units  of a new model that will be based

This electric SUV offers 530 km range for half the price of Tesla Model Y

Image
Although it seems that  Tesla is unbeatable  with the features and prices of its electric cars, the reality is that there are more and more new options that compromise its leadership. The latest to arrive is this model that  costs half as much as a Tesla Model Y  where it has already been put on sale, and of course, it is not at all short of features. Among other things  it uses the best LFP battery in the world  available today, and also because it offers up to  530 km  of maximum range on a full charge. But there are also other sections in which it also stands out, such as its technological equipment. The model we are talking about is the  KIA EV5 , which has already started selling  from 19,000 euros  at a direct currency exchange, although prioritizing China and South Korea –  its market of origin . Now, this model is already  confirmed for Europe , we will just have to wait a little longer to see it in our dealerships. Be that as it may, it is the brand’s first electric car that

Nissan will get ahead of Hyundai and KIA with this electric SUV

Image
The  C SUV  segment is the one with the most demand in our market, and although there are dozens of competitors within this category, historically  the Nissan Qashqai has been the most prominent  until, suddenly, the current  Hyundai Tucson and KIA Sportage  They have completely stolen the spotlight. The latest generation of the Qashqai has not  ‘come in’  as well as the previous ones and the  Korean brands  have known how to fit better with the tastes and needs of Europeans. However, it seems that  Nissan is going to go ahead  by betting on  two new electric SUVs  that aim precisely at the most in-demand segments. This can be a  problem for KIA and Hyundai , which, although they already have an interesting range of electric cars, it is true that they are  making themselves wait  precisely in the C SUV segment. The Hyundai Tucson and the KIA Sportage are indeed  selling better than any other, but at the moment no electric versions  of any of them have been launched. And what will sure

The best Chinese electric cars of 2023

Image
The automobile market is changing at breakneck speed. A decade ago, surely none of us would have considered buying a  Chinese car . However, the commitment to electrification has led to the birth of many brands in the Asian country, as well as the reconversion of manufacturers that already had experience in that territory. Thanks to this paradigm shift, the  Chinese automobile industry  has become especially competitive. Many of these brands are already trying to gain a foothold in Europe, as is the case with BYD. In this article, we are going to give a brief review of the  best Chinese electric models  that you can currently purchase in Europe. The best Chinese electric cars of 2023 What are the best Chinese electric cars? Although the offer currently in Europe is very varied – and is increasing -, here we leave you a selection of the  best models  that are marketed for their quality-price ratio, equipment, and range. When talking about prices, we will mention the rate before appl

Gigacasting provides fast and cheap production but is expensive to repair

Image
Tesla, with its successes and its mistakes, has meant  a paradigm shift in the automobile industry , not only by contributing significantly to the popularization of the electric car worldwide but also by introducing important changes in both the business model and the manufacturing process of their automobiles. One of the company’s most notable innovations in this last field is “gig casting”, a procedure that allows the creation of large cast structures  to reduce the number of body parts , which makes production cheaper and faster (until now, the car frame was made from numerous pieces of stamped steel welded together). Aware of the enormous advantages of “gigacasting”, more and more groups are betting on this solution:  Geely (Volvo, Zeekr…), NIO, Volkswagen, XPeng…  Toyota recently confirmed that its next electric platform will be made up of only three modules (front, center, and rear frame), a revolution  “at the height of the monocoque chassis.” The Japanese firm estimates that

Toyota cools expectations for solid electrolyte batteries

Image
Solid electrolyte  has become one of the Holy Grails for transportation transformation. A battery system  with higher energy density  is safer and even more economical. But the road is not easy, and Toyota has just confirmed that even at the end of the decade, its production will be very limited. As we remember, earlier this month, Toyota announced a production partnership with the Japanese Idemitsu Kosan, a petrochemical company that will work with the Japanese brand for the production of batteries with solid electrolytes. These batteries will use a flexible, highly adhesive, and resilient solid electrolyte material made of ceramic-like sulfides to offer comprehensive improvements over current lithium battery chemistry. Solid state  offers more energy density  and allows components to be eliminated, which in addition to reducing weight increases performance while allowing  faster charging and less risk of fire.  The big question is when. The roadmap is set, and Toyota plans to lau

These are the best alternatives to the refreshed Toyota Yaris Cross

Image
The new Toyota Yaris Cross 2024 seems to have not changed because  it maintains its aesthetics intact , but the truth is that for this restyling the Japanese brand has focused  exactly on what it should . They have left its design aside and have put  better technology  in its cabin, more equipment dedicated to safety, and, above all, a  better hybrid engine that increases the power  figure and also the maximum torque figure. It will arrive at dealerships next month, but I am going to tell you  which are the best alternatives  that are already available on the market. Today the Toyota Yaris Cross can be purchased  for 24,925 euros , and with the improvement in power and equipment, it would be most normal that we see a  price increase  with the introduction of the Yaris Cross 2024 on the market. Meanwhile, among its  biggest rivals  is an SUV that is cheaper and has a more powerful hybrid engine, and that is the  Renault Captur hybrid . Specifically, it costs  23,700 euros  at the momen

Best-selling hybrid SUV refreshed with more power and technology

Image
It will last more or less time, but right now it is the  best-selling hybrid in Europe. So it seems that there was no need to renew it, but a new 2024 Toyota Yaris Cross  still arrived which, due to its changes, represents a  significant improvement  over its previous iteration. More than anything, because it now has a  more powerful hybrid engine  with greater torque delivery, and because  its technology has also been improved . Which, by the way, he needed to be on par with some of his strongest rivals. And of course, its design has also been updated to give it a more modern  look . The new  Toyota Yaris Cross 2024  is, simply, a  restyling  of the first generation of the model. At the design level, little has changed, but enough. It has a new bumper in its sports version, new emblems, and also debuts  new body colors  and new wheel designs. In reality, the aesthetic changes are minimal, even less than usual in a restyling, but the Japanese brand has indeed  focused on its interior

KIA surprises the world with its €19,000 electric car

Image
KIA , and also  Hyundai , have been pioneers in introducing the  800 V architecture  for the electrical system of their electric cars. And they can boast of having been  avant-garde  with their models, matching the technical proposal of the Porsche Taycan –  in some aspects –  before anyone else did. Now they are focused on  growing their range  with new, more accessible models –  not all of them  – and  KIA has just surprised the world  with the introduction of a new model for  just 19,000 euros . And not because it falls short in performance, but because it offers up to  720 km of range according to homologation data. The model we are talking about is the  KIA EV5 , which has just started to be sold in China for about  19,000 euros  at direct currency exchange. This model will also  arrive in Europe , although it was first released in South Korea and is now in China. Not only is it cheap, but it is also cheaper than initially planned because it was supposed to cost 10,000 yuan more
