Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV: Caught without camouflage
At the end of the year, Mercedes-Benz will present the EQE SUV, a model derived from the well-known EQE electric sedan, with which it will share the category (E segment), platform (EVA), and mechanical parts. Developed as part of a joint program with the EQS SUV, the star’s new electric SUV will become a zero-emission alternative to the GLE.
Even though the first deliveries will not take place until spring 2023, the final design of the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV has been revealed thanks to spy photos of one of the units used by the brand for its crash tests. How will be the new rival of the Audi Q8 e-Tron and BMW iX?
The front of the new EQE SUV shows the same design language as the rest of the members of the EQ family, with almond-shaped headlamps “fused” with a blinded black grille. The bumpers are reminiscent of those of the EQE sedan, with two side air intakes that give it a somewhat sportier look.
The model name is engraved on the A-pillar, while the rear is crowned by a generous spoiler. The pilots, attached to the width of the gate, are very similar in design to those of the EQE, something that on the other hand should not catch us by surprise, since from a technical point of view both will be practically identical.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will be the most aerodynamic model in its category
Thus, the EQE SUV is expected to reuse the 90.6 kWh battery pack seen in its younger brother, which should allow it to approach or even exceed 600 km WLTP of autonomy (remember that Mercedes-Benz has set itself the goal of achieving that the EQE SUV and EQS SUV are the most aerodynamic models in their respective categories ).
It will also maintain its charging system, being able to reach peak powers of 170 kW in direct current. This will allow you to go from a 10 to 80% charge in 32 minutes. Despite being a very advanced model, it will not have an 800-volt electrical architecture, a solution that will appear in the next-generation electric Mercedes-Benz.
The EQE SUV is also expected to have sports variants signed by AMG, which will stand up to the already well-known BMW iX M60. However, unlike the EQS SUV, our protagonist will not have a super-luxury Maybach version, a privilege reserved for S-class models.
