Mitsubishi ASX 2023: All the Secrets of the New Suv
Thanks to Renault, and its alliance also with Nissan, Mitsubishi will continue its commercial path in Europe. In less than two years a new ASX will arrive… which will be much more than a clone of the Captur.
Mitsubishi breathes. The Japanese manufacturer, which in recent years has gone through serious commercial difficulties without guaranteeing its commercial network even for a moment its continuity in Europe ( it even announced in 2020 that it would leave the Old Continent to focus its strategy on the United States and Asia ), managed a few months ago to ensure its viability through an agreement with Renault.
This new pact ensured, by itself, the production of two new Mitsubishi vehicles in Europe. In exchange, Renault offered more activity to its factories, helping to produce these cars. The result is already in the pipeline: a new Space Star for the utility segment, developed based on the Clio 5; and, in the case we are dealing with today, a new ASX based, this time, on the new Captur 2.
Mitsubishi ASX 2023 Much More Than a Clone of the Captur
The final aspirations of the brand in Europe undoubtedly depend on this new SUV, since it points directly to one of the fastest-growing and most demanded segments. Although at the moment there is not much-leaked information about what this new second-generation ASX will look like, everything indicates that it will not be a simple clone of the French model.
Launched in 2010 in its first generation, and therefore too old already although it is true that it has been premiering different updates, the new Mitsubishi ASX will offer a complete redesign based on the Captur as a differentiation, something that interests both the Japanese brand and the rest of the world. the French The model will also arrive in 2023, to take advantage of its launch coinciding with the restyling that, that same year, will also incorporate the Captur.
Manufactured in Valladolid? It Seems…
Although there is still no official confirmation, the information also suggests that the new Mitsubishi ASX could be manufactured at the Renault plant in Valladolid, where the current new Captur is also manufactured. And based on the same platform, it is normal for its length to be similar, around 4.25 meters in length.
Although it could also incorporate a new gasoline engine, the logic, taking into account the plans announced by Mitsubishi, is that the ASX reaches the market sharing, above all, the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the current Captur. The first refers to an E-Tech variant of 145 hp and with an average consumption of 5.0 l/100 km, while the second is marketed as an E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid with 160 hp and starting at an expense of only 1, 3 l/100 km on average taking advantage of its 100% electric autonomy (50 kilometers) at full load.
Over the next few months, we will learn more about this secret Mitsubishi and Renault project, but it certainly seems that it will bring good news for the Spanish automobile industry.
