Rivian breaks the brand’s range record with the Dual-Motor R1T

The Rivian R1T had the honor of becoming the first electric pick-up on the market. The North American firm was thus ahead of its big competitors, who little by little have been presenting their proposals such as the Tesla Cybertruck, GMC Hummer EV, Chevrolet Silverado EV, or Ford F-150 Lightning.

As we await the highly anticipated arrival of Rivian ‘s electric cars in Europe (beyond the Amazon-specific EDV delivery van), the R1T range is now growing with new versions for the North American market.

To the point, that the options that the American customer has to buy their electric pick-up are already counted by 14. The new ones come from the hand of a double motor configuration together with a battery called ‘Max Pack’. As you can imagine, it is the highest-capacity battery in the range.

Thanks to the 180 kWh of capacity, the range tests of the EPA cycle speak of more than 400 miles of range for the first time in a Rivian brand vehicle. These are the three new versions that have been released with the new EPA range data:

  • Rivian R1T AT ‘Max Pack’ with 20-inch wheels: 355 miles
  • Rivian R1T ‘Max Pack’ with 21-inch wheels: 410 miles
  • Rivian R1T ‘Max Pack’ with 22-inch wheels: 380 miles

Rivian has also released EPA range figures for the R1T version with 20-inch AT off-road tires but with the so-called ‘Large Pack’ 135 kWh battery. This is how the range is configured at that level:

  • Rivian R1T AT ‘Large Pack’ with 20-inch wheels: 307 miles
  • Rivian R1T ‘Large Pack’ with 21-inch wheels: 352 miles
  • Rivian R1T ‘Large Pack’ with 22-inch wheels: 341 miles

All these figures, according to Rivian, are better than the initial estimates they had provided. The R1T range in North America also includes a ‘Standard Pack’ version, with a smaller 105 kWh battery.

Precisely, thanks to this last battery, which cannot be associated with the versions with AT off-road wheels, it allows the brand to include only 3 versions within the stipulated maximum limit ($80,000) for aid from the United States Government. which are estimated at $3,750.

The lowest prices of the Rivian R1T range are located at $71,050, counting the aid. The maximum price, for its part, is close to $100,000. Rivian also states that this version with dual motors and a ‘Max Pack’ battery will arrive “soon” in the Rivian R1S range.
