The new Peugeot e-208 offers a range of more than 400 km
Peugeot has presented by surprise and without prior notice the expected restyling of the e-208, its most popular electric car. With this movement, the lion’s firm stops the leaks that it had been suffering for days since the final design of the vehicle was revealed a few weeks ago in a series of images taken on the assembly line itself.
The renewed Peugeot e-208, which will start manufacturing in November at the Stellantis plant in Figueruelas (Zaragoza), has received a facelift similar to that of the e-2008. The main novelty is found in the optical groups with LED technology and in the daytime running lights in the form of a triple claw, although the grille and the bumper are also new.
Of course, the utility adopts the new Peugeot corporate logo, inspired by the one used in the 60s of the last century. The changes are minor in the rear, highlighting the pilots with three horizontal stripes and the name of the brand in larger letters. The tire offering has also been updated.
“The Peugeot design team enthusiastically approached the challenge presented by the new 208. We wanted to further assert its already strong personality without losing the overall spirit of its design. The new front end with Peugeot’s new light signature and, at the rear, reinvented three-claw lights have given the design a fresh look and a more cat-like stance while maintaining the sculpted, athletic silhouette that customers they love,” explains Matthias Hossann, Peugeot Design Director.
The Peugeot e-208, more connected than ever
Peugeot’s youngest now includes a 10-inch touch screen as part of its standard equipment (the basic versions previously included a 7-inch one), which can be associated with two different infotainment systems: PEUGEOT i-Connect and PEUGEOT i -Connect Advanced, both with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as OTA updates. Nor can we fail to mention the 10-inch digital instrumentation (with 3D technology on the GT model).
In terms of safety, the e-208 does not stay behind the latest proposals from the competition and incorporates assistants such as adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go function, active alert for involuntary lane departure, automatic emergency braking, extended signal recognition traffic warning, blind spot warning, driver attention alert, etc.
Like the rest of the Stellantis group electric cars based on the eCMP and EMP2 platforms, the Peugeot e-208 benefits from a new 156 HP (115 kW) motor, which in this case is associated with a 51-liter battery. Gross kWh (48 useful kWh). The range, in the process of homologation, will exceed 400 km WLTP. As for the charge, it reaches a peak of 7.4 kW in a single phase (20-80% in 4 hours and 40 minutes) and 100 kW in direct current (20-80% in less than 25 minutes). Optionally, an 11 kW three-phase charger can be added.
