Skoda renews popular cars Superb and Kodiaq

The two flagships of the Czech family will be updated almost at the same time. Electrification will be very present, although 100% electric units are not expected for either of them. Skoda is the Volkswagen Group brand that has grown the most in recent years. On an excessive price scale, the Czechs have always opted for value for money as the best premise for their brand. Away from that economic concept that achieved great success in the 90s and 2000s, today Skoda has become one of the best general firms in Europe. Its two flagships, the Skoda Superb and Kodiaq will soon receive a well-deserved renovation. This is what we know at the moment.

It is not the first time that it has been announced that both models will have a new generation in 2023. At the beginning of this year, they already gave the first notice of the important change that both units were going to undergo. We are talking about two fundamental pieces in the company both by image and by sales volume. The current generation of the Superb has sold more than 777,000 units, making it the most successful of all that there has been. The Kodiaq follows closely with 740,000 registrations in its first generation launched on the market in 2016.

In both cases, the same philosophy that has built the reputation of Skoda will be maintained. A lot will be offered for a contained price. Regarding the Kodiaq, the Czechs will apply severe modifications in all aspects. The design will mutate to adapt to the new aesthetic philosophy of the house called Modern Solid. The format will be maintained to continue offering three rows of seats and a capacity for seven passengers. The equipment and quality will also be improved, but above all the engines will be revised. Until now, the Kodiaq hasn’t been able to enjoy electrification and that’s about to change. The range will be made up of diesel, gasoline, MHEV, and plug-in hybrid models with the DGT Zero label.

About the sedan, the Skoda Superb must continue to demonstrate that you should not leave a lot of money to access the latest technology from the Volkswagen Group. It will be Volkswagen itself that is in charge of manufacturing this saloon. Production will take place in Bratislava, thus leaving the Czech Republic after more than two decades. Like the Kodiaq, it will offer a renewed and forceful style while maintaining the typical elegance of the largest sedan in the house. Equipment, quality, and habitability will be reviewed and improved. Same with thrusters. Skoda is expected to significantly improve the PHEV version, increasing its official range based on an increase in battery size.

Skoda plans to launch both units almost simultaneously. The official presentation will take place in the second half of the year, although it will not be until the beginning of the following year when the production and marketing phases begin. Skoda’s approach to electrification will go further as the years go by. Just yesterday we told you that Skoda is preparing several different electric models that will be released in the next three years. The smallest SUV in the house aims to start its sales at 25,000 euros, while it has been confirmed that the Skoda Elroq will be the 100% electric version of the Skoda Karoq. Along with them will be a family sedan and a 4.9-meter SUV that will become the largest model in the house.
