Polestar breaks sales records with a single electric car
From Polestar they predict that 2023 will conclude with very good results as a result of the sales figures for the first quarter. The Swedish firm Polestar is positioned today as one of the favorite electric vehicle manufacturers for the majority of those interested in this type of mobility. In addition to its advanced mechanics, its design, technology, and positioning make it a great alternative to Tesla, mainly in Europe, although its figures are still far from those presented by the North American firm. In a new report published by the brand itself, its management announces remarkable sales for the first quarter of 2023, which already tips the balance in favor of a memorable end of the year.
According to the economic results of the first quarter, the brand has delivered just over 12,000 units worldwide. This represents an increase of 26% compared to the registrations made in the same period of 2022. However, they are almost 9,000 units less than those delivered in the last fourth quarter, where a total of 21,000 electric cars were registered, a circumstance attributed by Polestar to the usual seasonality.
However, this decrease between one quarter and another does not detract from the optimism of the board. Quite the opposite. The CEO of Polestar, Thomas Inglenlath, points out that 2023 will be a record year for the Swedish company worldwide and already predicts more than 80,000 registrations.
This forecast is supported by a series of important movements for the firm. To this day, all registrations correspond to a single model, the Polestar 2, with which the brand has accompanied the expansion of its network of official dealers throughout the world. Next summer, the brand expects to begin production of its first electric SUV, the Polestar 3, which will be a shock for the firm, since by its very conception it is presented as the great alternative to the Tesla Model Y, one of the best-selling electric cars in Europe. Subsequently, Polestar will release all the details regarding its next model, the Polestar 4, another electric SUV that will mean a variation towards the coupe format. Later, the Polestar 5 will also arrive, in the form of an electric saloon, and the Polestar 6, an electric convertible.
The Polestar 3 rides on the same platform as the Volvo EX90, specifically for electric vehicles. Practically all the data on this model are already known. With a length of 4.9 meters, it will have power, at the access level, of 483 CV and 840 Nm of maximum torque. Its battery will provide an electric range of over 600 kilometers. The starting price in Spain will be 92,900 euros, although alternatively there will be one with a Performance package that will raise this figure to 99,500 euros. As for the Polestar 4, most of the data is still unknown, although it is known that it will be smaller in size than the previous model, as well as a conception more focused on sports sensations.
With all of these launches planned and announced over the next three years, Polestar hopes to position itself as a groundbreaking, forward-thinking company that can challenge Tesla and its range of all-electric vehicles.
