Lamborghini Revuelto The Brand’s First Hybrid Car
The Lamborghini Revuelto, another beast of Spanish bullfighting, follows in the long and prestigious line of the Countach, Diablo, Murcielago, and Aventador. Particular fact and certainly wanted considering that it comes with a hybrid engine, “revuelto” also means scrambled, agitated in Spanish. This line has always been defined mainly by the presence of a V12, and the Revuelto is no exception. However, to have peace of mind, it is hybridized, which allows it to peak at more than 1,000 horsepower, a first for the manufacturer.
At first glance, one recognizes the features of the Revuelto as being typically Lamborghini. No other manufacturer takes this approach. Although the model is completely new, it may lack originality since it does not reserve any real surprise on the aesthetic level.
Perfectly in line
At the front, the Y-shaped LED headlight units are carried over, seen for the first time on the Siam FKP 37 in 2020. In profile, the shoulders of the wheel arches remain typical, as does the steeply sloping windscreen. The Revuelto switches to hybridization but continues to have a strong need for air supply. As tradition requires, behind the doors are imposing air intakes. This time, in the shape of a recumbent V, we set the tone for a permanent impression of movement.
When it comes to rims, we differ at the front compared to the rear with optional 20 and 21-inch or 21 and 22-inch combinations. As for the rear, again, we follow the approach of the most recent Lamborghinis with lights placed high. The electric spoiler is hidden at the base of the window just above the two imposing exhaust pipes which leaves no doubt about the presence of a thermal engine. Outside, the manufacturer offers no less than 400 color choices.
In the passenger compartment, there are still 2 places, but with considerably more comfort than in the past. The interior presentation remains very sporty, but less juvenile in its approach. The fully digital instrumentation with a 12.3-inch display makes it possible to switch from one panel to another while having the maximum information on the dynamic aspects. The center screen is surprisingly the smallest at 8.4 inches, while the passenger also gets theirs at 9.1 inches.
The passenger is also able to control the air conditioning, navigation, and music controls so that the driver can concentrate on his driving duties. With the Revuelto, general ergonomics are simplified by removing a collection of buttons. On the other hand, the manufacturer keeps the red switch for starting the racing car. Lamborghini will offer 70 colors or combinations for interior trim. From an ecological perspective, the manufacturer partially uses polyester fibers for the manufacture of the microsuede present.
A first at more than 1,000 horsepower
The Revuelto is not the first hybrid in the family, this title goes to the Siam 37 FKP. However, with the new 6.5-liter V12 (L545), the manufacturer goes much further. The engine itself pushes out 813 horsepower and generates 535 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated V12 in Lamborghini’s history. As we are in the era of hybridization, we add no less than 3 electric motors, including two at the front which produce 180 horsepower. The latter also allows electric driving over a distance of about 10 kilometers in “city” mode. Range is limited due to the small battery of only 3.8-kilowatt hours. It recharges in less than 30 minutes in a level 1 7-kilowatt outlet. Otherwise, the heat engine will do it in 6 minutes.
In total, the Revuelto pushes a combined 1,001 horsepower, allowing it to hit 98 kilometers per hour in 2.5 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than the latest version of the Aventador with the Ultime. The top speed is 350 km/h, but the pilot will pass the 200 km/h mark in 7 seconds. The first copies of the 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto will not arrive before the end of 2023. The manufacturer has not yet revealed the price list, but a base invoice is expected to exceed 650,000$.
