Audi A6 e-tron will finally launch in early 2024

At the beginning of next year, Audi will present the expected A6 e-tron, an electric sedan called to compete against the BMW i5, Mercedes-Benz EQE, and Tesla Model S. This model will be one of the first electric cars of the Volkswagen Group to use the PPE modular platform, developed jointly by Audi and Porsche.

According to the chief designer of the firm with the four rings, Marc Lichte, the appearance of the final version will be very close to that of the A6 e-tron Concept and A6 Avant e-tron Concept prototypes. “At the end of this year, we will launch the Q6 e-Tron and then a few months later the A6 e-tron. The A6 e-tron will arrive exactly three years after the e-tron GT […] the concept car is very, very, very, very, very close to the production car.”

The Q6 e-tron and A6 e-tron will debut the brand‘s new design language, which will be characterized, among other things, by the use of two-level headlamps. While the upper module will be very thin, the lower one will be darkened and camouflaged inside an air intake, which will make the headlights appear very slim. “You can see that we are going to be more elegant and simple. “

The PPE architecture, which combines elements of the J1 (Porsche Taycan) and MEB (Volkswagen ID.3) platforms, will feature an 800-volt electrical system. This will allow the A6 e-tron to charge at a maximum power of 270 kW in direct current (5-80% in just over 20 minutes).

The Audi RS6 e-tron will be around 600 HP of power

Audi already confirmed at the time that the A6 e-Tron will be available in rear-wheel drive versions (which, thanks to their efficiency, will be around 700 km WLTP autonomy), as well as with Quattro all-wheel drive. These latest models will use two engines, one on the front axle and one on the rear. The battery pack used will have a capacity of 100 kWh.

Of course, there will also be a high-performance RS6 e-tron variant with more than 600 hp that will offer a 0-100 km/h time of fewer than 4 seconds. Everything indicates that, following the company’s tradition, this model will be offered exclusively with the Avant family body.

“We have a long tradition with very sporty and emotional Avants. It’s a tradition that’s really in our roots and we want to continue it, so for us as designers, it’s always great to work with this body style because it’s the perfect combination of usability and expressive, sporty design,” explains Philip Roemers, Head of Exterior Design at Audi.
