VW ID.7 will unveil the world’s most advanced air conditioning system
Volkswagen attended the last CES 2023 (Consumer Electronics Show) with a camouflaged unit of the ID.7, its new electric saloon. This model, which will be tasked with replacing the Passat and Arteon internationally, will be fully revealed in the second quarter. Although it will begin to be sold in China in the middle of the year, it will take a little longer to reach Europe.
To whet your appetite until its official coming-out, Volkswagen is gradually revealing new data on the expected vehicle. Without going any further, the German firm has confirmed that it will be in charge of launching a new intelligent air conditioning system that will activate the air conditioning before passengers get into the car.
If it is hot outside, when you open the door, the Smart Air Vents will begin to quickly distribute the airflow over a wide area using horizontal movements. When users sit down, the flow can be redirected. The climate controls will be located at the top of the 15-inch touch screen, so they will always be visible.
The force and direction of the flow can be adjusted intuitively from the control panel; In addition, the system will react to vocal commands. To go no further, if the instruction “Hello Volkswagen, my hands are cold” is spoken aloud, the steering wheel heater will be activated and warm air will be redirected to the driver’s hands for five minutes.
The Volkswagen ID.7 will be able to detect the position of the sun
The ID.7 will also be the first Volkswagen to detection of the position of the sun. A sensor located in the windshield area will detect the angle of incidence and, depending on the side of the car where the rays are falling more strongly, the airflow will be directed to the hottest areas.
Our protagonist will be in charge of launching the new MEB+ modular platform, an evolution of the well-known MEB of the ID.3 and ID.4. It will measure 4.94 meters long and, like the current Passat and Arteon, it will be available with a sedan and family body. Initially, it will mount a 77 kWh battery that will give it a range of 620 km WLTP.
Later the range will be completed with other options, including one of approximately 89 kWh with which it will reach 700 km WLTP. As for the load, it should reach about 200 kW of power in direct current. It will be available in both rear-wheel drive and 4MOTION all-wheel drive versions. Nor will there be a high-performance variant GTX, which will be around 300 CV.
