Audi A6 e-tron will come with a different headlight design
Audi is finalizing the development of the A6 e-Tron, the electric model in charge of launching the new generation of the A6. A highly anticipated car that will have a new stylistic resource for Audi and is often controversial.
The next generation of the Audi A6 will be fully electric. In 2021, the German brand presented the prototypes of the Audi A6 e-Tron and A6 Avant e-Tron, saloon, and estate, respectively, the new electric models of the A6 family. The prototypes had a design very close to the production car, although not the same. Now, spy photos have exposed a design resource that will be a first for Audi.
Some spy photos published by the photographer have revealed one of the stylistic resources that the Audi A6 e-Tron will use and that we did not know about until now. These are the split headlights, or in two heights, an increasingly fashionable resource that is not without controversy due to its unique and, sometimes, controversial results at a visual level.
Audi is testing the A6 e-Tron on public roads and, in one of these raids, several units were caught. Although they wore camouflage, they revealed a light signature consisting of two heights. A small clue had been revealed in the prototype: they had a very thin headlight with LED bulbs and just below a lamp, isolated and forming part of a false air intake.
In the spy photos, one can intuit a thin headlight at the top and, just below, another headlight that is thicker and longer than the one on the prototype. A resource, that the broken headlight, which is a novelty at Audi. Other brands have been using it for some time, including Citroën, Hyundai, Skoda, Genesis, and BMW. The Ingolstadt brand will use this type of headlight first on the A6 e-Tron, and then on more electric models.
In addition to this stylistic resource, the test car -this one is practically identical to the production one- is taller and less wide than the A6 e-Tron Concept, a car whose proportions were spectacular but, as expected, hardly fit. transferred as is to the production model.
The A6 e-Tron will be the first Audi to use the Volkswagen Group’s PPE platform (the Audi e-Tron GT uses the J1 architecture derived from the Porsche Taycan), which brings with it the most advanced technology from the German group. It will have an 800-volt electrical system and batteries with a capacity of up to 100 kWh, thanks to which it will be able to offer some 700 kilometers of autonomy.
When will the A6 e-Tron hit the market?
This new family of electric e-Tron models will hit the market in 2024. The brand with the four rings has not yet announced the exact date of its presentation, although deliveries to customers are expected to begin at the end of 2024.
The electric Audi A6 e-Tron, with a length of 4.96 meters, will position itself as a direct rival to the Mercedes EQE, the Tesla Model S, and the future BMW i5.
