Volvo is developing a new electric coupe SUV called the C60

The Swedish brand seeks to present a wide range of electric models. A leak confirms that one of the next to arrive will be the Volvo C60, the coupe alternative to the future Volvo XC60 Recharge.

Volvo‘s all-electric model range currently features the XC40 Recharge, the new EX90, and the C40 Recharge. The latter is presented as a very characteristic SUV coupé, something that has earned it to meet some of the most remarkable sales figures . However, Volvo will not culminate its electric family there, since it expects to show a whole landing of vehicles soon, and we already know what one of the following could be.

At the presentation of the new Volvo EX90, the brand’s most luxurious and advanced electric SUV, the directive anticipated a smaller electric SUV focused on more urban use. This is the Volvo EX30 that will be presented throughout the next 2023. But, in addition, there are signs of a new member with a coupe body: the Volvo C60 Recharge.

From the CarBuzz media, they have released a new trademark registered by Volvo before the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office, for its acronym in English). The supporting document shows the nomenclature “C60” together with the category of “Goods and Services” for “Land motor vehicles” together with the subsection “Insignia for vehicles”.

Continuing with the current nomenclature of the Swedish brand, the C60 will arrive as a coupe body variant of the Volvo XC60 and, more specifically, its future electrical mechanics. This model will compete with the future electric BMW iX4, which is already in development.

Volvo C40 Recharge

According to rumors, the future Volvo XC60 Recharge (or EX60) would increase its size concerning the current combustion generation. This will trigger an improvement in the interior habitable space, as well as in its cargo space. This will be essential when launching a coupe variant of the electric SUV, since, by mere design, the Volvo C60 Recharge would see both sections reduced. The growth in size would also be substantial to close the gap to the Volvo EX90.

The latest announcements made by the brand suggest that the Volvo EX90 will be manufactured at the plant in South Carolina, United States, along with another electric model yet to be specified. The latter could be the expected Volvo XC60 Recharge and its coupe body variant, the Volvo C60 Recharge.

Entering a purely speculative field, the Volvo C60 Recharge could get a battery located halfway between the one used by the Volvo C40 Recharge (78 kWh) and the Volvo EX90 (111 kWh). In this way, the new SUV coupé would be positioned between both models. The same could happen with its power since this would fall between the 204 CV of access for the smallest model and the 517 CV of the most capable alternative to the EX90.
