Audi A6 e-tron Spotted in Winter Test

The Audi A6 e-tron faces the final stretch of its development during its last winter tests. The long-awaited electric saloon, which will debut next year and begin deliveries in 2024, will open a new chapter in the history of the firm with the four rings, marking the path that it’s future 100% electric models will follow.

Although it will share a category (segment E) with the e-tron GT, it will have a radically different approach. While the A6 e-tron will come to occupy, as its name indicates, a position equivalent to that of the thermal A6 within the company’s offer, the e-tron GT does the same with the A7 Sportback, with a sportier character.

Interestingly, the configuration of their respective bodies has been reversed: while the A6 is a four-door sedan and the A7 Sportback a five-door fastbackin the case of electric models it is the A6 e-tron that enjoys a wide gate. In addition, it will also be available with a practical Avant family body.

The Audi A6 e-tron will display the brand’s new aesthetic language, with two-level headlamps. While the upper module will have a very slim design, the lower one will be darkened and integrated into an air intake. The Singleframe grille will retain its hexagonal shapes, although it will be partially blinded.

The lights will be attached to the width of the gate and will display a very striking and avant-garde lighting pattern. Both the saloon and the Avant will be very aerodynamic, as they will have a coefficient of just 0.22 and 0.24 respectively; in return, the glazed area at the rear will be relatively small in both versions.

Like the Q6 e-tron, the A6 e-tron will be based on the new EPP modular platform, developed jointly with Porsche. This architecture will incorporate an 800-volt electrical system, which will allow it to charge at a maximum of 270 kW of power in direct current (5-80% in approximately 22.5 minutes).

At the level of range, the leap compared to the e-tron GT will be abysmal, since in its most capable versions it will be around 700 km WLTP, so it will surpass rivals such as the future BMW i5 or the well-known Mercedes-Benz EQE. Of course, it will have high-performance variants S6 e-tron and RS6 e-tron, the latter being reserved for the Avant model.
