The Maserati MC20 Cabrio is already seen camouflaged

Maserati already told us when we went to meet him in September last year, the MC20 will have several versions, and after the coupe, it is time to remove the roof. What you see is the next MC20 Convertible, still as a prototype, finalizing details and testing everything before its debut next year.

From Modena to the whole world, this MC20 Cabrio prototype has been seen camouflaged with that vinyl that plays with the clouds and the sky, a nod to that Cabrio body that it hides.

Everything seems to point to what these first images show that it will be a hard ceiling. The Maserati MC20 Cabrio hides well what’s about its nice two-seater interior, but based on the photos and that vinyl, it could be a retractable hardtop.

This would mean a notable increase in the weight of the model, exceeding the 1,470 kg of the coupe, since the folding system would mean adding elements to the set. Although if we look at other past sports cars, they were with a canvas roof, like the Gran Turismo Cabrio.

Of course, the firm of the trident ensures that it will maintain its carbon fiber monocoque, as well as its body of this material and other similar compounds, all to control the total weight of the Italian convertible.

This will be necessary to maintain its good dynamics and measure yourself against your convertible rivals, such as the 911 Convertible or the F8 Spider among others. Another solution could be a manually removable hardtop, a “Targa” type that helps reduce weight, although it would not be the norm in the segment.

Luckily it will have its V6 called Nettuno, with 630 hp and 730 Nm of torque, with which it will be capable of a 0 to 100 km / h in 3 seconds. To get to know the new MC20 Cabrio there are still a few months left, as it will be presented in 2022.
