KIA EV3 will be affordable and have a range of 500 km

Image
We are going to have to pay close attention to  KIA’s upcoming launches  because the South Korean brand  is going all in  on complete electrification. They plan to launch  15 new electric cars , nothing more and nothing less, until  2027 . Among all these launches is the  KIA EV3  that concerns us, and of which we bring you an  exclusive preview  of both its design and its planned features. This model will be  much cheaper  than those launched so far by the brand, and will also fit into a lower segment. We can now see  what its design will be like  and what is expected of it both in terms of  range.  As in  power  and other technical sections. This  exclusive preview  focused on the design of the  KIA EV3  shows us an appearance that, although reminiscent of the current  KIA Niro, has even more straight shapes  and follows a design language already seen in the KIA EV5.  David Hilbert, European marketing director, has already announced that models from the KIA EV1 to the KIA EV1  will

Honda surprises the world with long-range and affordable electric SUV

Image
We have seen that, for years,  Japanese brands have lagged  behind  electric cars  for the simple reason that they did not seem to trust them one hundred percent. Now  Toyota has changed  its mind completely, and  Honda  has just presented what, without a doubt, is  its best electric vehicle  ever shown. Nothing to do, at all, with the little Honda E. We are talking about the new  Honda Prologue , its electric SUV that will arrive next  year in 2024 , and that, for several reasons, has  surprised the world . Let’s see what its key technical features are, and even  its price , which has already been revealed. The  Honda Prologue  will become the  first electric SUV  of the Japanese brand, and its pre-sale will begin at the end of 2023, although it will not be available to the first customers until next  year 2024. For now, the brand has already released the first  photos of officials  who completely reveal its final design and, in addition, has already announced that it will offer  30

Total Energies is building 1,100 fast chargers for the German network

Image
Total Energies was awarded the contract for 1,100 HPC fast charging points as part of the tender for the so-called  Germany network.  The former oil company, which became known for the Total gas stations, is to take over the installation and operation of the charging stations. The individual charging points with up to 200 kW charging power are grouped into “charging hubs” that are being set up at 134 locations in eastern, central, and western Germany. The electricity comes exclusively from renewable energy sources. With the tender, Volker Wissing’s Federal Ministry of Transport (BMDV) wants to build a nationwide fast-charging network with around 8,000 additional high-performance charging points at around 900 locations throughout Germany. The focus of the tender was on closing white spots: The chargers should preferably be built in areas where there are currently no fast charging points or where the existing points are not sufficient to cover the expected demand. With a total of thre

Volvo signs agreement to develop StoreDot 5-minute charging batteries

Image
For years we have been telling you periodically about some promising batteries from the Israeli startup  Storedot . Some  XFC cells with a dominant silicon anode , capable of recovering the equivalent of a range of  160 kilometers in just 5 minutes of charging , will now have the collaboration of Volvo to accelerate their arrival on the market. This collaboration between the Volvo Cars and StoreDot teams they hope will allow them to optimize the design of the XFC cells, to  adapt them to future Volvo electric car architectures , and whose first results they hope will be ready to begin field testing next year. According to Doron Myersdorf, CEO of StoreDot, “  This is a very important agreement for both StoreDot and Volvo Cars. Our teams are now working together at a good pace, developing B-sample cells for Volvo Cars’ next-generation all-electric architectures. There is a huge amount of work to do, optimizing all aspects of the system to meet Volvo’s demanding requirements. But we are

The best electric car of 2023 costs under 20,000 euros

Image
For many years, buying an electric car has been  a luxury  that not everyone can afford. Among other things, because electric vehicles  were much more expensive than their gasoline equivalents . However, that situation is beginning to change, and it is becoming easier to find  cheaper electric cars  and, above all, with very good features. The case of the model in question  is somewhat unique  because it is directly  cheaper than a Volkswagen Golf  and, however, it is  much better  in many aspects. Especially at the  power  level, in terms of equipment which comes standard and, of course, because  it is €9,000 cheaper. While a  basic Volkswagen Golf  can be purchased today for approximately  28,800 euros,  according to websites specializing in the sale of new cars, the electric one in question  only costs 19,480 euros  in its cheapest version. Yes, okay, we must keep in mind that it includes the maximum aid from the MOVES III Plan, but the brand  advances €7,000  of this aid. We are t

This Tesla Model S has 310K miles on its original battery

Image
Many people wonder  how long the battery of an electric car lasts , and if it needs to be changed every four years. The reality is that the answer is not easy, since it depends a lot on the model and the treatment given to said battery. But the normal thing is that it lasts a good number of miles, reaching cases such as a taxi from Canada, which  in 9 years has already accumulated half a million kilometers with its original battery, and with hardly any degradation. This is a  2016 Tesla Model S 90D , which after almost a decade working as a taxi for the Current Taxi company, remains in very good shape, and as its owner has indicated, after  310K miles , using mainly the Superchargers As a charging source, it keeps its battery with just  12% degradation. Without a doubt, this purchase has been a good investment for this taxi company, since the car has barely had to go through the workshop beyond routine checks. It has not had any major repairs in nine years, and like all models of tha

US Congress requests documents related to Ford’s battery partnership with CATL

Image
To the chagrin of the large American manufacturers, they do not win, and in addition to the historic strike that the unions are carrying out, there are now added problems with agreements such as those signed by  Ford with the Chinese company CATL  to build a large battery factory in Michigan. According to Reuters, different Republican congressmen have sent a letter to the president of Ford with a deadline for sending the required documentation on its CATL association, and on the American manufacturer’s plan to build a battery factory that will mobilize 3.5 billion Dollars. Concerns are that this factory, which will use Chinese technology,  will allow CATL to facilitate the flow of US tax subsidies to China , and also leave Ford dependent on the Asian giant’s technology. On Monday,  Ford confirmed a freeze on construction work at the  Michigan battery plant, citing concerns about its ability to operate it competitively as it continues to negotiate with unions over wages and condition

Tesla’s pressure caused Hyundai and KIA to drop prices

Image
The  price war started by Tesla  at the beginning of this year is causing many manufacturers to follow in its footsteps. A few hours ago,  Hyundai and KIA  announced price cuts for their electric cars, starting with their home market, South Korea. Korean manufacturers have confirmed the price reduction of models such as the  Hyundai Kona EV, IONIQ 5, and IONIQ 6, as well as the KIA EV6, and Niro EV . These discounts, announced as temporary promotions, represent  a reduction of up to 8%  for the Hyundai IONIQ 5, which will start at 46 million won, or  32,200 euros at the exchange rate , which represents a cut of almost 3,000 euros. For its part, the rear-wheel drive version with a 77 kWh battery will start at 52 million won, or 36,400 euros at the exchange rate before aid. This movement allows us, on the one hand,  to see that Tesla’s movements are affecting traditional manufacturers , both with the collapse of sales of their access models, such as the Volkswagen ID.3, which are unab

Tesla reduced the assembly cost of Model Y by 40% thanks to gigapress

Image
Tesla  has taken important steps in recent months to improve the efficiency of its revolutionary assembly with the hydraulic press, which allows for reducing times and components, and thus costs. Now, the Shanghai plant has managed  to complete the production of the Model Y rear end with a single part , accelerating its production pace and reducing costs. According to Chinese media, Tesla has managed to achieve a high level of efficiency in the production of the rear of the Model Y with  a one-piece die-casting process , where the structural components are installed and integrated, and are assembled  by a press of between 6,000 to 9,000 tons.   Something that has allowed the manufacturing rate to be greatly improved. Compared with traditional methods,  Tesla’s structural system saves weight by more than 10% . Furthermore, this translates into cost, and thanks to the optimized structural design and the results of material recycling, adopting this integrated die-casting method  has all

This electric car will come with 400 km range and the cheapest price in 2024

Image
Its official presentation is scheduled for October 17 of this year, but we will have to wait a little longer because it will go on sale at the beginning of  next year in 2024 . The model we are talking about is a new  electric car  that is directly focused on  becoming the cheapest  on the market, at least, within its category. A subcompact with  a crossover appearance , somewhat inferior to a conventional SUV, which will reach  400 km of range and which promises to convince the  ‘general public’ , especially due to its  low price . We are talking about the new  Citroën ë-C3 , which will have little to do with the Citroën C3 that is sold today. Among other things, it will have an  SUV appearance, with a body length  of just over 4 meters, and a very different aesthetic than the current model. To give us an idea, its line will be very similar to the one shown in the renders that accompany this article, which  is based on the Oli , a  ‘concept car’  that Citroën recently showed. It wil

Volkswagen temporarily suspended production of some models due to low demand

Image
The Volkswagen Group will suspend production of the CUPRA Born and Volkswagen ID.3 during the first two weeks of October due to weak demand. Both electric compacts are produced at the German plant in Zwickau, although the ID.3 is also assembled in Dresden.  Manufacturing of both vehicles will resume on October 16 . According to German media reports,  sales of the zero-emissions range ID. In Europe, they are going through a critical moment , something that contrasts with the increasing weight that electric cars have in the market (they already account for one in every five deliveries on the old continent). Why this situation? The problem would lie in the lack of competitiveness of Volkswagen’s proposals compared to rivals such as MG or Tesla. With  a starting price of almost 40,000 euros in Germany , the ID.3 costs the same as the Tesla Model 3, which belongs to a higher category and offers better performance and range, as well as 10,000 euros more than the MG4 of equivalent dimension

Will electric cars and solar energy prevent climate change?

Image
The  International Energy Agency  (IAE) has updated its  ‘Net Zero’ roadmap  with the necessary objectives that must be met globally before 2030, also with a view towards net zero  emissions worldwide by 2050 . According to the IAE, the main objective that all different actors must pursue is to “intensify electrification and biofuels” to “decarbonize road transport until 2030.” And from that moment on, ”  electrification will be the main lever  .” According to IAE estimates, electricity will represent three-quarters of energy consumption in road transport in 2050.  The electric car and solar panels will play a fundamental role in limiting global warming to 1.5ºC . This is what emerges from the updated report that began in 2021, which now takes into account all the work carried out during these last two years and establishes what would have to happen in the global energy sector over the coming years and decades. Our main objectives to follow for the IAE The IAE highlights the  “inc

This 100% electric SUV is much cheaper than its hybrid SUV rival

Image
Typically, a gasoline model is  the cheapest option , followed by mild hybrids, and then non-plug-in  hybrids.  Typically,  electric cars  are the most expensive, even above plug-in hybrids. However, the model in question  is on sale  and can now be purchased  cheaper than ever  before since it was launched on the market. And thanks to that, as striking as it may be, it can be purchased for  5,000 euros cheaper than a hybrid alternative . And of course, it is much more interesting for the simple reason that it is a  100% electric car  that also has  cutting-edge technology.  for the electrical part. Both at the battery and motor level. The model we are talking about is the  BYD Atto 3 , which right now can be purchased for  just 30,780 euros  as a minimum price, even though  it is 100% electric . And, to give us an idea of  how cheap it is , a possible comparison would be the  Hyundai Tucson hybrid , which is a benchmark among models with its characteristics, and which  costs 35,825 e

Nissan will sell only electric cars in Europe from 2030

Image
In 2020,  Nissan  suffered a strong commercial crisis in Europe, making the decision to focus on its three main markets (China, the United States, and Japan), leaving others such as Europe in the background. However, the Japanese firm wants to recover lost ground by launching new models and  to be a 100% electric brand by 2030. This has been confirmed by its president, Makoto Uchida, who in an appearance at the London design studio, indicated that “there is  no going back with internal combustion engines, and Nissan will make the switch to electric cars by 2030 in Europe.” We believe it is the right thing to do for our business, our customers, and the planet  .” Nissan confirmed that  it will launch two new electric cars in Europe.  One of them will be produced at its Sunderland plant, in the north of England, where the LEAF comes from, and for which there are no details at the moment. The second model is an all-new model car that will succeed the Micra as the entry-level vehicle in

Tesla shows progress of its humanoid robot Optimus

Image
Tesla  has shown the latest updates to its  Optimus robot , also called Tesla Bot. It has even opened its  own Twitter channel , in which new videos have begun to be shown and in which it is described as “A general-purpose bipedal humanoid robot capable of performing unsafe, repetitive or boring tasks.” The first time we heard about this robot was in 2021 at the IA Day event, in which the North American brand showed its advances in Artificial Intelligence. The following year, we could already see some of the prototypes moving and greeting the public. The  latest advances  show how these robberies are already beginning to be able to perform certain tasks. The Optimus robot has already shown  how it can organize different pieces on a table autonomously  or even how it can perform various  yoga postures . We have also been able to see him walking and performing other tasks in one of the Tesla Gigafactories, next to the highly anticipated Cybertruck. The tasks in their factories will be

Jeep Wagoneer S will go on sale in Europe in 2025

Image
The big three US companies General Motors, Ford, and Jeep are still lagging when it comes to offering electric cars. This even applies to large SUVs, which should be the domain of US manufacturers. However, Jeep will soon be launching a large electric SUV with the Wagoneer S. The brand’s new top model will have around 450 kW and will therefore sprint to reference speed in around 3.5 seconds. The range will be around 600 km, writes  Autocar,  without naming a source. According to Jeep, the name  Wagoneer S  is only a temporary designation; the final name has not yet been revealed. The car will come onto the market in 2024, but initially only in the USA – the car is also primarily aimed at US customers. But the model, which is over five meters long, will also reach us: limited numbers will come to Europe from 2025. The Jeep Wagoneer S is intended to compete in the premium segment and take on the BMW iX.  Jeep’s new electric car range will have four models, including the entry-level Je

Volvo’s new electric car has more range and is cheaper than its rivals

Image
Who would have ever thought that  a Volvo would be cheaper than a Smart ? Well, today,  this is  indeed the case, as surprising as it may be. And the model we are talking about is the  latest electric car  that the Swedish brand has launched, which, by the way, is owned by Geely. That is, Volvo shares technology with Link & Co, with Polestar, and also with Smart itself. This model is even  cheaper than some  comparable hybrids, and despite this, it has  very good range and, above all,  extraordinary interior quality  with truly complete standard equipment. Many examples could be given, because the  Volvo EX30 is cheaper than a DS3 E-Tense , for example, and it also costs  less than a Smart #1 , than a  Mazda MX-30,   than an Opel Mokka-e, or even  more. cheaper than an electric Hyundai KONA . The Swedish brand has  gone all out  with the launch of its latest  electric car , which combines  excellent technology  for its electric drivetrain with  top-notch qualities , a very tastef

Toyota hopes to produce 600,000 electric cars per year in 2025

Image
Although words may be carried away by the wind, signs indicate that something has changed within  Toyota . The Japanese giant, despite not abandoning its pursuit of popularizing the hydrogen car, will now also bet on the battery-powered electric car. And this is demonstrated by the production objectives that have just been published. According to the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, Toyota plans to increase the annual production capacity of electric cars, which will go from just 190,000 units per year which they hope to achieve in 2024, to  600,000 units in 2025 . To achieve this, Toyota will rely on a combination of new manufacturing techniques, such as automated assembly lines and large-tonnage die-casting machines, with old-school ideas, such as manual polishing processes and lean production methods. All in the hope of compensating for its deficiencies in the electric car section. It will also bet on its development of batteries, which, as we have seen in recent weeks, will allow it to

New Tesla Model 3 Performance will come with better range and power

Image
The  Tesla Model 3 Highland  has just arrived on the market and yes, practically everyone has liked it. No one doubts that it is  the best possible purchase  among electric cars in its category. Of course, the arrival of the strong restyling that the model has received has meant the disappearance of the  Tesla Model 3 Performance , its sportiest configuration. Now, fortunately, we have been able to know that  the Performance version is going to return and, in addition, we already have key information about it such as its maximum power  figure and its acceleration data  from 0-60 MPH. Leaked documentation has revealed that, as suspected, the  Tesla Model 3 Performance  is very close to  being available again  and receiving the news of this ‘  Highland’  version. Now, not only will it inherit  all the changes  from the restyling, but it will also debut its changes. It has been commented that, based on the  VIN  that appears in the documentation, with a  letter T , the new Tesla Model 3

Toyota unveils gigacasting prototype that will cut production times in half

Image
In the coming years,  Toyota will implement new production methods  to streamline the development and production of its new models, as well as reduce costs. One of the solutions that the Asian giant will bet on will be gigacasting , which debuted a few years ago with the Tesla Model Y. The American SUV was the first car in the industry to use large cast parts in its frame, pointing the way to other brands such as Volkswagen or Volvo, which have also confirmed its use in their future models, as it greatly simplifies the  entire manufacturing process . Toyota has just presented  a prototype of its new gig casting system for the Myochi plant , which allows one-third of the body to be manufactured in just a few minutes. The Japanese firm relies on this advance to be able to scale the production of its electric cars quickly and profitably. Thus, it will use this method to manufacture the front and rear sections of a new electric model that will be released in 2026. Normally, the rear thi
